After 9 long months of waiting, May 17th finally came around and it was time to see Shawn Mendes. It’s weird because when I look back at the times in 2013 I used to watch his 6 second long Vine covers, I would never have thought I would see him in a crowded arena playing his original songs on a world tour.
With thousands of girls screaming, he kicked off the show with ”There’s Nothing Holdin’Me Back”, a new addition to his album ”Illuminate”. I must say I was reeaally impressed by the live performance, hitting notes spot on while you have a billion other things going cannot be easy. I found the setup of the concert extremely clever and pretty too. It was modern, it suited his songs perfectly, and made them more alive than I had ever seen before.
I do not remember exactly what Shawn said, but it went something along the lines of ”Look around you, you have all been gathered here today because you have connected through music. So listen as you all sing together”. I had never really thought of it that way, and it really made me think about all of these thousands of people that have felt something similar like I have when listening to Shawn’s music. So thank you, for creating a memorable moment in my life.
